Collegium de Dunis
The choir Collegium de Dunis was founded in October 1995 and has from its beginning been conducted by its artistic director Ignace Thevelein. The choir presents a wide variety of concert programmes. Apart from several cantatas and motets by J.S. Bach, also his Christmas Oratorio, the Passions of Saint John, Marc and Matthew were produced, as well as Messiah by G.F. Haendel and Gloria by Vivaldi.
Collegium de Duns has also acquired a strong reputation in the field of a capella music ranging from the Renaissance till 21st century music.
The choir regularly brings thematic polyphony concerts, using the text as a guide through the entire concert.
In December 2000 the choir won the gold medal during the international choir contest at the Peter Eben Festival in Prague, and was specially praised by the jury for its interpretation of Spanish polyphony.
The choir has already recorded several compact discs. The latest, Laus tibi, containing polyphony from the Renaissance, was released in 2005 on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the choir.
In 2006 Collegium de Dunis was a finalist of the provincial choir festival in West-Flanders. In 2007 the choir made a concert tour through Burgundy and performed in several festivals.
